Grant-in-Aid to Côte d'Ivoire for Project to Improve Irrigation in the Centre-North Region

The Government of Japan has decided to extend a grant-in-aid of up to a total of 700 million yen (414 million yen for FY1997 and 286 million yen for FY1998) to the Government of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire for its Project to Improve Irrigation in the Centre-North Region (Le projet d'amenagement hydro-agricole dans la region Centre-Nord).

With this aid, the Government of Côte d'Ivoire intends to build a dam for irrigation, with a view to expanding rice farming in the centre-north region.

Notes to this effect were exchanged between the two governments on May 26 in Abidjan.
