Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the recent situation in Nigeria

  1. On Sunday, December 25, two bomb attacks occurred near churches in Madala, Niger, on the outskirt of the Nigerian capital, Abuja and the city of Jos, Plateau State, and many citizens were dead and injured. Japan strongly condemns such violence which produces numerous causalities among citizens.

  2. Japan expresses its sincere condolences for those who have been killed in the attacks and their bereaved families. Japan strongly hopes that the Government of Nigeria and its people overcome ethnics and religious differences and continue making efforts toward the stabilization of the security situation.
