Saga Prefecture Received the 2010 United Nations Public Service Award

- Saga Prefecture’s “Collaboration Testing” and “Innovation ‘SAGA’ Project” were announced as the winners of the United Nations Public Service Awards. This is the first in Japan to win this Award since it was established in 2003. - It is expected that this Award will make Japan’s excellent public service initiatives known to the world, and also make Japanese public widely aware of such UN initiatives aimed to improve public services in many countries.

This prestigious international recognition of excellence in public services was established in 2003 and is held every year. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions in countries worldwide.
The categories for the Award are as follows. Organizations that have had success creating and establishing new measures, systems, and initiatives are eligible to apply. In addition to national organizations and local governments, universities and NGOs may also apply.
