In order to cooperate fully with the hosting of the G8 Environment Ministers' Meeting and proceed with smooth promotion of related projects, and also to make use of this opportunity to publicize the advanced efforts being made on the environmental front by Hyogo and Kobe as widely as possible both domestically and internationally, on July 26, 2007, Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe City jointly established a local promotion cooperation organization named the Hyogo Promotion and Cooperation Committee for the Environment Ministers Meeting (Chairman: Akihiro Amano, Chairman of the Hyogo Environment Council), with participation by the administration, economic organizations and concerned groups.
