In order to welcome participants to the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV) and to help ensure the success of this conference by performing a wide range of hosting support activities beginning with an inspection program, on September 14, 2007, Yokohama established the TICAD Yokohama Promotion Committee (Chairman: Hiroshi Nakada, Mayor of Yokohama) with the support of some 40 organizations and groups including administrative organizations, economic groups, and citizens groups.
During the time remaining until the conference, the city will hold a symposium and events, and carry out related PR, etc., to help deepen the public's understanding of African issues, promote the welcoming of participants, and build up the conference atmosphere through the joint efforts of the citizens of Yokohama.
