on Political Dialogue between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, taking into account the recent progress in political and economic reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan, recognize that the existing friendly relationship between the two countries has entered a new stage with further possibilities for both countries to enhance their relations and to co-operate in various fields and announce that they reached the following common recognition.
The Ministers desire to strengthen and promote co-operation on both the bilateral and the multilateral levels based on the values of democracy, freedom and basic human rights as well as on the principles of partnership and mutual benefit, and emphasize the significance and usefulness of dialogue with regard to areas of mutual interest and the necessity to co-operate.
The Ministers intend to enhance regular political dialogues between the two Ministries on bilateral relations and international issues of common concern.
The Ministers will promote closer co-operation of the two countries in the United Nations and other international organizations through exchange of views and information.
