科学技術における研究開発のための協力に関する日本国政府とアメリカ合衆国政府との間の協定の有効期間の延長に関する交換公文

(Japanese Note)

　Tokyo, April 28, 1987

　書簡をもつて啓上いたします。本大臣は、千九百八十年五月一日にワシントンで署名され、千九百八十五年四月二十六日に両政府間で交換された書簡によつて延長された科学技術における研究開発のための協力に関する日本国政府とアメリカ合衆国政府との間の協定の延長に関する両政府の代表者の間における最近の討議に言及するとともに、前記の協定は、同協定第九条に基づき、千九百八十七年十月三十一日まで延長されるものとすることを、日本国政府に代わつて提案する光栄を有します。

　Excellency,
I have the honor to refer to the recent discuss ions between the representatives of the Governments of Japan and the United States of America concerning the extension of the Agreement between the Governments of Japan and the united States of America on Cooperation in Research and Development in Science and Technology, aligned at Washington on May, 1980 and extended by the Notes exchanged between the two governments on 26 April, 1985 and to propose on behalf of the Government of Japan that, pursuant to Article IX thereof, the said agreement will be extended until 31 October, 1987.

　本大臣は、更に、前記の提案がアメリカ合衆国にとつて受諾し得るものであるときは、この書簡及び閣下の返簡が、両政府間の合意を構成するものとすることを提案する光栄を有します。

　If the above proposal is acceptable to the United States of America, I have further the honor to suggest that this note and Your Excellency's Note in reply shall constitute an agreement between the two governments.

　本大臣は、以上を申し進めるに際し、ここに重ねて閣下に向かつて敬意を表します。

　I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency the assurance of my highest consideration.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's Note of today's date, which reads as follows:

　本使は、更に、前記の提案がアメリカ合衆国にとつて受諾し得るものであることを、アメリカ合衆国政府に代わつて確認するとともに、閣下の書簡及びこの返簡が、両政府間の合意を構成するものとすることに同意する光栄を有します。

　I have further the honor to confirm on behalf of the Government of the United States of America that the above proposal is acceptable to the United States of America and to agree that Your Excellency's Note and this note in reply shall constitute an agreement between the two governments.

　本使は、以上を申し進めるに際し、ここに重ねて閣下に向かつて敬意を表します。
