NOTE VERBALE


　アメリカ合衆国大使館は、外務省に敬意を表するとともに、千九百六十六年九月二十二日に発効した一部旅券査証料の相互免除に関する日本国政府とアメリカ合衆国政府との間の取極に言及し、かつ、次のことがアメリカ合衆国政府の了解であることを申し述べる光栄を有する。

　The Embassy of the United States of America presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has the honor to refer to the Arrangement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America Concerning Reciprocal Waiving of Passport Visa Fees which entered into force September 22,1966, and to state that the following is the understanding of the Government of the United States of America:


(1)アメリカ合衆国政府は、前記の取極の(1)にいうA-3及びG-5査証の有効期間を四十八箇月から十二箇月に変更する。

(1) The Government of the United States of America shall amend the validity of A-3 and G-5 visas, referred to in paragraph (1) of the said Arrangement, from forty-eight (48) moths to twelve (12) months.


(2)日本国政府は、前記の取極の(2)にいう査証符号「外交」の該当者のうち従者、召使又は個人的使用人の査証の有効期間を四十八箇月から十二箇月に変更する。

(2) The Government of Japan shall amend the validity of visas for attendants, servants or personal employees classified under "Diplomatic" of Visa symbol, referred to in paragraph (2) of the said Arrangement, from forty-eight (48) months to twelve (12) months.


　大使館は、前記のことが日本国政府の了解でもあることを外務省が日本国政府に代わつて確認されることを要請する光栄を有する。大使館は、更に、この口上書及び日本国政府に代わつて前記のことを確認される同省の回答をその回答の口上書の日付の日から三十日後に実施される両国政府間の合意を構成するものとみなすことを提案する光栄を有する。

　The embassy has the honor to request that the Ministry confirm in behalf of the Government of Japan that the understanding set forth above is also the understanding of the Government of Japan. The Embassy further has the honor to propose that this note verbale and the Ministry's reply confirming the foregoing in behalf of the Government of Japan shall be regarded as constituting an agreement between the two Governments which will become operative thirty days subsequent to the date of the Ministry's note of reply.

　外務省は、在本邦アメリカ合衆国大使館に敬意を表するとともに、日本語の訳文が次のとおりである千九百七十八年五月二十五日付けの同大使館の口上書第三一◯号を受領したことを確認する光栄を有する。

　外務省は、更に、日本国政府に代わつて大使館の口上書に述べられたアメリカ合衆国政府の了解が日本国政府の了解でもあることを確認するとともに、大使館の口上書及びこの回答をこの回答の日付の日から三十日後に実施される両国政府間の合意を構成するものとみなすことに同意する光栄を有する。
