北太平洋捕鯨の規制に関する日本国とソヴィエト社会主義共和国連邦との間の協定
千九百四十六年十二月二日ワシントンで暑名された国際捕鯨取締条約(以下「条約」という。)の締約政府である日本国及びソヴィエト社会主義共和国連邦の政府は、
The Governments of Japan and of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, being Parties to the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling, signed at Washington on December 2, 1946 (hereinafter referred to as "the Convention"),
次のとおり協定した。
Have agreed upon the following:
第一条 (a) この協定の適用上、
Article 1 (a) For the purpose of this Agreement:
(i) 千九百七十八年における母船によるひげ鯨の捕獲のための解禁期は、四月十五日から十月十五日までの期間とする。
(i) The open season in 1978 for pelagic baleen whaling operations shall be the period from April 15 to October 15 both inclusive: and
(ii) 千九百七十八年における母船によるまつこう鯨の捕獲のための解禁期は、三月十五日から十一月十五日までの期間とする。
(ii) The open season in 1978 for pelagic sperm whaling operations shall be the period from March 15 to November 15 both inclusive.
(b) 自己の管轄下で作業する鯨体処理場を有する署名政府は、他の署名政府に対し、当該鯨体処理場の解禁期をできる限り連やかに通告する。
(b) The Signatory Government having a land station or stations operating under its jurisdiction shall as soon as possible notify the other Signatory Government of the season or seasons for such station or stations.
第二条 北太平洋及びその附属水域において各政府の管轄下にある母船又は鯨体処理場によつて捕獲されるひげ鯨の数は、千九百七十八年においては、次に示す捕獲頭数を超えてはならない。
Article 2 The number of baleen whales taken in the North Pacific Ocean and dependent waters in 1978 by pelagic expeditions or land stations under the jurisdiction of either Government shall not exceed the limits shown below:

第三条 条約の付表の7(d)に規定する区分において各政府の管轄下にある母船又は鯨体処理場によつて捕獲されるまつこう鯨の数は、次に示す捕獲頭数を超えてはならない。
Article 3 The number of sperm whales taken in the Divisions described in paragraph 7 (d) of the Schedule to the Convention by pelagic expeditions or land stations under the jurisdiction of either Government shall not exceed the limits shown below:

第四条 この協定は、前文に掲げる政府によつて署名された日に効力を生ずる。
Article 4 The present Agreement shall enter into force on the day upon which it is signed by the Governments referred to in the preamble.
第五条 この協定は、千九百七十八年十二月三十一日まで実施する。
Article 5 The present Agreement shall be operative until December 31, 1978.
以上の証拠として、下名は、各自の政府から正当に委任を受けてこの協定に署名した。
In witness whereof the undersigned, being duly authorized thereto by their respective Governments, have signed the present Agreement.
千九百七十八年四月二十六日に東京で、英語により本書二通を作成した。
