(Japanese Note)
Tokyo, December 14, 1965
書簡をもつて啓上いたします。本大臣は、昭和三十三年六月十六日にロンドンで署名された原子力の平和的利用における協力のための日本国政府とグレート・ブリテン及び北部アイルランド連合王国政府との間の協定第一条(2)の「両当事国政府は、原子力の平和的利用の促進及び開発のための協力の方法で、(1)に掲げるもの以外のものについて合意することができる」ことを定める規定に言及する光栄を有します。
Monsieur l'Ambassadeur,I have the honour to refer to the provisions of paragraph (2) of Article I of the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy signed at London on 16th June 1958 which provides that "the Contracting Parties my agree on ways of collaborating for the promotion and development of the peaceful uses of atomic energy additional to those enumerated in the preceding paragraph."
本大臣は、日本国政府に代わつて、日本原子力研究所と英国原子力公社との間に行なわれることがある液体金属冷却高速炉に関する情報の交換及び協力のための協定の締結が前記の規定の範囲内のものであるとみなされることを提案する光栄を有します。
I have accordingly the honour to propose, on behalf of the Government of Japan, that the conclusion of such agreements as may be reached between the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute for exchange of information and collaboration on liquid metal cooled fast reactors shall be regarded as falling within the said provisions.
グレート・ブリテン及び北部アイルランド連合王国政府がこの提案を受諾されるときは、本大臣は、この書簡が、受諾を表明される閣下の返簡とともに、本日効力を生ずる両政府間の合意を構成するものと認められることを提案いたします。
If the foregoing proposal is acceptable to the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, I have to suggest that this Note j together with Your Excellency's reply to that effect, shall be regarded as constituting an Agreement between the two Governments which shall enter into force on this day's date.
本大臣は、以上を申し進めるに際し、ここに重ねて閣下に向かつて敬意を表します。

書簡をもつて啓上いたします。本使は、訳文が次のとおりである千九百六十五年十二月十四日付けの閣下の書簡を受領したことを確認する光栄を有します。
Monsieur le Ministre,I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of Your Excellency's Note of the 14th of December, 1965 which in translation reads as follows:

本使は、グレート・ブリテン及び北部アイルランド連合王国政府が前記の提案を受諾すること及び同政府がこのため閣下の書簡及びこの返簡を本日効力を生ずる両政府間の合意を構成するものと認めることを閣下に通報する光栄を有します。
In reply, I have the honour to inform you that the foregoing proposal is acceptable to the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland who therefore regard Your Excellency's Note and this reply as constituting an Agreement between the two Governments which shall enter into force on this day's date.
本使は、以上を申し進めるに際し、ここに重ねて閣下に向かつて敬意を表します。
