EXCHANGE OF NOTES BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF SWEDEN CONSTITUTING ARRANGEMENT CONCERNING RECIPROCAL WAIVING OF PASSPORT VISA
スウェーデン特命全権公使から外務大臣臨時代理にあてた書簡
Tokyo, August 8, 1956
書簡をもつて啓上いたします。本使は、スウェーデン国民及び日本国民に対する査証の免除に関し、次のことがスウェーデン政府の了解である旨を申し述べる光栄を有します。
Monsieur le Ministre, With reference to the exemption of visa requirements for the nationals of Sweden and Japan, I have the honour to state that the following is the understanding of the Government of Sweden:
1 有効な旅券を所持し、かつ、日本国内において継続して三箇月をこえる期間滞在し又は職業もしくは生業に従事する意図を有しないスウェーデン国民は、旅券に領事査証を取り付けることなく日本国に入国することがでぎる。
1. The nationals of Sweden who are in possession of valid passports and have no intention either to stay for a period exceeding three consecutive months or to seek employment or occupation in the territory of Japan, shall be permitted to enter Japan without obtaining any consular visa to their passports.
2 有効な旅券を所持し、かつ、スウェーデン国内において継続して三箇月をこえる期間滞在し又は職業もしくは生業に従事する意図を有しない日本国民は、旅券に領事査証を取り付けることなくスウェーデンに入国することができる。
2. The nationals of Japan who are in possession of valid passports and have no intention either to stay for a period exceeding three consecutive months or to seek employment or occupation in the territory of Sweden, shall be permitted to enter Sweden without obtaining any consular visa to their passports.
3 前記の査証手続の免除は、日本国に入国するスウェーデン国民及びスウェーデンに入国する日本国民が、外国人の入国、在留、出国その他の管理に関するそれぞれの相手国の法令を遵守すべぎことを免除するものではない。
3. It is understood that the waiver of the visa requirements does not exempt the nationals of Sweden and Japan coming to Japan and Sweden respectively from the necessity of complying with the Japanese and Swedish laws and regulations concerning the entry, residence, exit and other controls of aliens.
4 この取極は、千九百五十六年九月一日に効力を生ずる。各政府は、一箇月の予告をもつてこの取極を廃棄することができる。
4. The present arrangement shall be effective on and after September 1, 1956. Either Government may denounce the arrangement by giving to the other one month written notice.
本使は、前記の・ことが日本国政府の了解でもあることを同致府に代つて確認されることを閣下に要請する光栄を有します。
I have further the honour to request Your Excellency to be good enough to confirm on behalf of Your Government that this is also the understanding of the Government of Japan.

書簡をもつて啓上いたします。本大臣は、本日付の閣下の次の書簡を受領したことを確認する光栄を有します。 本使は、スウェーデン国民及び日本国民に対する査証の免除に関し、次のことがスウェーデン政府の了解である旨を申し述べる光栄を有します。
Monsieur le Ministre, I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of Your Excellency's Note of August 8, 1956, which reads as follows: "with reference to the exemption of visa requirements for the nationals of Sweden and Japan, I have the honour to state that the following is the understanding of the Government of Sweden:
