	The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Republic of India and has the honour to inform the latter that the Government of Japan is prepared to take, on a reciprocal basis, the following measures from January 1, 2008 concerning the waiver of visa requirements:


							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  １　インド共和国の国民であって、インド共和国外務省が発給した有効な外交旅券を所持しインド共和国政府の外交又は領事の任務の目的で日本国に入国することを希望するもの及びそのような旅券を所持し当該インド共和国の国民の家族の構成員でその所帯に属するものは、その滞在期間のいかんを問わず、査証を取得することなく日本国に入国することができる。


							

						

						

							

								
1.	Nationals of the Republic of India in possession of valid diplomatic passports issued by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India, seeking entry into Japan for the purpose of exercising diplomatic or consular functions of the Government of the Republic of India and such nationals holding the said passports who are the members of their families forming part of their respective households, may enter Japan without obtaining a visa irrespective of the duration of stay in Japan.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  ２(1)　インド共和国外務省が発給した有効な外交旅券を所持するインド共和国の国民であって、１にいう目的以外の目的で継続して九十日を超えない期間滞在する意図をもって日本国に入国することを希望するものは、査証を取得することなく日本国に入国することができる。
  　(2)　(1)の査証の要件の免除は、就職し、永住し、自由職業若しくは他の生業（報酬を得ることを目的とする芸能及びスポーツを含む。）に従事する意図をもって日本国に入国することを希望するインド共和国の国民には適用されない。


							

						

						

							

								
2.	(1)	Nationals of the Republic of India in possession of valid diplomatic passports issued by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India, seeking entry into Japan for the purpose other than those referred to in paragraph 1. and with the intention of staying in Japan for a period not exceeding ninety (90) consecutive days, may enter Japan without obtaining a visa.

	(2)	The waiver of the visa requirements under sub-paragraph (1) above shall not apply to any nationals of the Republic of India who desire to enter Japan with the intention of seeking employment or permanent residence, or of exercising a profession or other occupation (including public entertainment and sport for remunerative purposes).


							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  ３　１及び２の査証の要件の免除は、日本国に入国するインド共和国の国民に対し、入国、滞在、居住、出国その他の外国人の管理に関する日本国の法令に服することを免除するものではない。


							

						

						

							

								
3.	The waiver of the visa requirements under paragraphs 1. and 2. above does not exempt nationals of the Republic of India entering Japan from the necessity of complying with the laws and regulations of Japan concerning the entry, stay, residence, exit and other control over aliens.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  ４　日本国政府は、公安、秩序及び衛生を含む公の政策上の理由により前記の諸措置の全部又は一部の適用を一時的に停止する権利を留保する。このような適用の停止又はその解除は、外交上の経路を通じて直ちにインド共和国政府に通告される。


							

						

						

							

								
4.	The Government of Japan reserves the right to temporarily suspend the application of all or any part　of the foregoing measures for reasons of public policy including those relating to public security, order and health. Any suspension or lifting of the suspension will be notified immediately to the Government of the Republic of India through the diplomatic channel.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  ５　日本国政府は、好ましくないと認めるインド共和国の国民に対し、その理由を示すことなく日本国に入国し又は滞在することを拒否する権利を留保する。


							

						

						

							

								
5.	The Government of Japan reserves the right to refuse the entry into or stay in Japan to nationals of the Republic of India considered undesirable without providing the motives for its decision.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  ６　日本国政府は、インド共和国政府に対し三十日前に文書による予告を与えることにより、前記の諸措置を終了することができる。

  １　日本国の国民であって、日本国外務省が発給した有効な外交旅券を所持し日本国政府の外交又は領事の任務の目的でインド共和国に入国することを希望するもの及びそのような旅券を所持し当該日本国の国民の家族の構成員でその所帯に属するものは、九十日を超えない期間、査証を取得することなくインド共和国に入国し、滞在することができる。当該日本国の国民は、関係する外交使節団又は領事機関の要請に基づき、到着から九十日以内に、公務上の滞在期間有効な居住査証を発給される。


							

						

						

							

								
1.	Japanese Nationals in possession of valid diplomatic passports issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, seeking entry into the Republic of India for the purpose of exercising diplomatic or consular functions of the Government of Japan and such nationals holding the said passports who are the members of their families forming part of their respective households, may enter and stay in the Republic of India for the period not exceeding ninety (90) days without obtaining a visa.
