  　書簡をもって啓上いたします。本使は、原子力の規制及び原子力安全の研究開発の分野における日本国とアメリカ合衆国との間の協力に関し日本国政府の代表者とアメリカ合衆国政府の代表者との間で行われた最近の討議に言及する光栄を有します。

							

						

						

							

								
Excellency:

	I have the honor to refer to recent discussions between the representatives of the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America concerning cooperation in the field of nuclear regulatory matters and nuclear safety research and development between Japan and the United States of America.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  　本使は、前記の分野において、両政府の間に存在する相互に有益な関係を考慮し、千九百九十七年十月十五日にワシントンにおいて交わされた日本国政府とアメリカ合衆国政府との間の合意を構成する交換公文を、同交換公文６の規定に従って、二千二年十月十五日から更に五年間延長することを日本国政府に代わって提案する光栄を有します。

							

						

						

							

								
	In consideration of the mutually beneficial relationship between the two Governments in the above-mentioned field, I have the honor to propose on behalf of the Government of Japan that the Exchange of Notes effected at Washington on October 15, 1997, which constituted an agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America be extended, in accordance with paragraph 6 of the Notes, for an additional five-year period beginning on October 15, 2002.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  　本使は、前記の交換公文に基づく日本国科学技術庁及び日本国資源エネルギー庁のすべての権利及び義務が、それぞれ日本国文部科学省及び日本国原子力安全・保安院に承継されたことを確認する光栄を有します。

							

						

						

							

								
	I have the honor to confirm that all the rights and obligations under the Exchange of Notes of the Science and Technology Agency of Japan and the Agency of Natural Resources and Energy of Japan were respectively succeeded to by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan and the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency of Japan.
