    書簡をもって啓上いたします。本官は、千九百九十六年十一月五日に東京で署名された科学技術における協力に関する日本国政府とオランダ王国政府との間の協定（以下「協定」という。)に言及する光栄を有します。本官は、更に、両政府の代表者の間で最近到達した次の了解を日本国政府に代わって確認する光栄を有します。

							

						

						

							

								
Excellency,

	I have the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Co-operation in Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement"), signed at Tokyo on November 5, 1996.  I have further the honour to confirm, on behalf of the Government of Japan, the following understanding reached recently between the representatives of the two Governments:

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  　協定は、二千二年六月三日から一年間延長される。

							

						

						

							

								
	The Agreement shall be extended for a period of one year from June 3, 2002.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
  　本官は、更に、この書簡及び前記の了解をオランダ王国政府に代わって確認される閣下の返簡が両政府間の合意を構成するものとすることを提案する光栄を有します。

							

						

						

							

								
	I have further the honour to propose that this Note and Your Excellency's Note in reply confirming on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands the foregoing understanding shall be regarded as constituting an agreement between the two Governments.
