  　書簡をもって啓上いたします。本大臣は、千九百九十四年十二月十二日に東京で署名された科学技術における協力に関するイスラエル国政府と日本国政府との間の協定（以下「協定」という。)に言及する光栄を有します。本大臣は、更に、両国政府の代表者の間で最近到達した次の了解をイスラエル国政府に代わって確認する光栄を有します。

							

						

						

							

								
Excellency,

	I have the honor to refer to the Agreement between the Government of the State of Israel and the Government of Japan on Cooperation in Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement"), signed at Tokyo on December 12, 1994.  I have further the honor to confirm, on behalf of the Government of the State of Israel, the following understanding reached recently between the representatives of the two Governments:

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
　　協定は、二千年八月三日から延長され、協定第八条一の規定に従っていずれか一方の政府が他方の政府に対し協定を終了させる意志を少なくとも六箇月の事前の予告をもって書面により通告することによって終了させない限り更に五年間効力を存続する。

							

						

						

							

								
	The Agreement shall be extended from August 3, 2000, and shall continue in force for an additional period of five years, unless terminated by either Government by giving to the other Government at least six months' written advance notice of its intention to terminate the Agreement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article VIII of the Agreement.

							

						

						

					

					
				
			
		
			
			
				
				

				
				
				
					

						

							

								
　　本大臣は、更に、この書簡及び前記の了解を日本国政府に代わって確認される閣下の返簡が両国政府間の合意を構成するものとすることを提案する光栄を有します。
