Hybrid buses, which run on a combination of electric batteries and diesel fuel, will shuttle spectators between Nagano City and the event sites. When the buses slow down, power is stored in the batteries; when they accelerate, they run on that power and on a diesel engine. A total of 104 low-emission vehicles will be used during the Games: 41 hybrid buses, 60 cars running on natural gas, and 3 electric automobiles.
