Messages from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Tony Blair concerning the bombings in Istanbul

On November 21, 2003, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi sent messages to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and British Prime Minister Tony Blair concerning the bombings in Istanbul on Thursday, November 20, involving the British Consulate General and the HSBC Bank.

In the messages, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his strongest indignation at the acts of terrorism which caused many victims including the British Consul General, Mr Roger Short. Prime Minister also conveyed his deepest condolences to the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the United Kingdom, and the bereaved families, as well as his heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured.

Prime Minister further expressed his determination to continue the fight for elimination of terrorism with the two countries as well as other members of the international community.
