Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's Visit to European Countries
April-May 2003
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi left Tokyo on April 26 to visit the following European countries - the U.K., Spain, France, Germany and Greece - in this order, to exchange opinions on Japan-Europe relations and the international situation including the situation in Iraq. He came back to Japan on May 3.
Mr. Koizumi had talks with the leaders of each country. In Greece, the EU presidency holder, he had the 12th Japan-EU Summit meeting with Mr. Constantinos Simitis, Prime Minister of Greece, and Mr. Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, to exchange views on Japan-EU relations, the international situation, and other matters.
