Miyazaki Prefecture is located on the southeastern coast of Kyushu. It is situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Kyushu mountain range. Miyazaki City, the planned site of the July 2000 Summit's Meeting of Foreign Ministers, is at the center of the Miyazaki Plains, which is in central Miyazaki Prefecture and fronts the Pacific Ocean. The Prefecture is known in Japan as the "State of Sun and Greenery," and as befits this center of Miyazaki Prefecture, Miyazaki City contains many beautiful areas such as the Nichinan Coast.

Access

Access to Miyazaki is especially convenient by air, and Miyazaki airport connects the Prefecture with ten Japanese cities. Miyazaki possesses a solid transportation network that includes the airport, a port as well as highways. There are ten daily flights from Tokyo (flight time: 1 hour 30 minutes); eight daily flights from Osaka's Itami Airport and one daily flight from Kansai International Airport (flight time: 1 hour respectively); and eleven daily flights from Fukuoka (flight time: 40 minutes).
