Prime Minister's Visit to Asia Pacific Countries

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi visited Viet Nam, East Timor, Australia and New Zealand from April 27 to May 3.
In Viet Nam (April 27 and 28), Mr. Koizumi had a meeting with Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, and paid courtesy calls on President Tran Duc Luong and Mr. Nong Doc Manh, Secretary General of the Viet Nam Communist Party.
In East Timor (April 29), he had a meeting with Mr. Xanama Gusmao, the President elect, and inspected camps of the Self Defense Forces units.
In Australia (April 30 to May 2), Mr. Koizumi had talks with Prime Minister Hon. John Winston Howard, MP, and spoke at a lecture meeting sponsored by Asia Society.
In New Zealand (May 2 and 3), he had a meeting with Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Helen Clark.
