Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi's Visit to Sri Lanka and India

Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited Sri Lanka and India from January 5 (Sun) to 9 (Thu), 2003.
In Sri Lanka, Foreign Minister Kawaguchi reaffirmed Japan's intention to support the peace process and its continued efforts with various forms of assistance toward the "consolidation of peace". In India, the foreign minister confirmed Japan's efforts for further enforcement of the global partnership based on the Joint Declaration between Japan and India and also delivered a policy speech.
This is the first visit to Sri Lanka by a Japanese foreign minister since August 1987 and to India since July 1997.
