In April 2007, the Second Friends of Human Security meeting was held in New York, co-chaired by Japan and Mexico. At this meeting, the participating countries and organizations made joint efforts aimed at achieving human security. In addition, Japan raised the prospect that the countries participating in the conference could cooperate in order to reflect the perspective of human security in UN activities, and this proposal met with general support.
