The commencing period of the invitation program varies by country. In the case of ASEAN countries, the first program year started in summer 2007. The government of the Republic of Korea bears a part of costs for inviting and dispatching youths between Japan. There are plans for approximately 1,200 Japanese youths to visit China by March 2008 on the invitation of the Chinese government.
