Caribbean Community (CARICOM): CARICOM was established in 1973 to provide an economic linkage between member countries/region, modify diplomatic policies, and promote functional cooperation in support of health, education, and other areas. It was based on the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA), founded in 1968, for purposes including regional trade liberalization. Currently CARICOM consists of 14 member countries and one member region.
