*1 Environmental Conservation Initiative for Sustainable Development (EcoISD)

Principles and policies on Japan's environmental cooperation and action plans for its future cooperation, which were compiled and presented in 2002. Specifically, it states (1) human resources development totaling 5,000 personnel in the environmental field; (2) provision of yen loans with the most concessional terms; (3) enhancement of Grant Aid for the Global Environment (currently the Grant Aid for Water Security and Global Environment); (4) promotion of wide-ranging collaboration with international organizations; and (5) evaluation of environmental ODA projects.
