Basic education refers to any activities that have the objective of enabling people to obtain the knowledge, values, and skills that will form a basis for lifelong learning. It generally refers to primary education, pre-school education, adult literacy education and the like. In some countries, however, it includes parts of secondary education, and since the definition of primary education itself varies from country to country, "basic education" is not a fixed concept.
