Past international conferences and agreements that have led to the establishment of the MDGs include the International Development Goals (IDGs) in the New Development Strategy adopted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development-Development Assistance Committee (OECD-DAC) in 1996, United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992 (environment), International Conference on Population and Development in 1994 (health, child mortality, and maternal mortality), World Summit for Social Development in 1995 (human development), the 4th World Conference on Women in 1995 (gender issues), World Food Summit in 1996 (poverty reduction) and the 6th session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) in 1998 (water). G7/G8 Summits the agreements of which have led to the MDGs include the 1993 Tokyo Summit, the 1994 Naples Summit, the 1995 Halifax Summit, the 1996 Lyon Summit, the 1999 Cologne Summit and the 2000 Kyushu-Okinawa Summit, and others.
