　宮沢喜一通商産業大臣とモーリス・H・スタンズ商務長官は，日米両国間の繊維貿易問題を討議するためこの3日間会合した。

　すべての角度からこの問題を十分検討した結果，大臣と長官は日本の米国に対する繊維輸出を自主的に規制することにつきこの時点で交渉により合意に達することは可能ではないとの結論に達した。

　両国は，それぞれ相手国の立場を理解し尊重し，またの機会の討議によりこの複雑な問題が解決されることを希望する。

The Minister of Intemational Trade and Industry of Japan， Kiichi Miyazawa， and the Secretary of Commerce of the United States， Maurice H. Stans， have met during these past three days to discuss the matter of textile trade between the two countries.

After full exploration of the subject from all angles， they have concluded that it is not possible to negotiate an agreement at this time for the volunary limitation of Japanese textile imports into the United States.

Each country understands and respects the position of the　other and hopes that further discussions at another time may provide a solution to this complex matter.
