Olympic Flame Passes
Through Yamanouchi In the torch
relay, the Olympic Flame will pass
through every prefecture in Japan, and
then through every city, town, and
village in Nagano. Here are some messages
from Yamanouchi Middle School students
chosen to participate in the relay as it
passed through their hometown:
-- I think being selected as a
support runner for the torch relay is a
really big deal. So I want to give it my
all and have a great time doing it. Even
though there was just a tiny chance for
it to happen, I was chosen to accompany
the torch in the relay. These little
chances come up in everything in life--I
hope everyone makes the best of the
chances that come their way. I hope the
people who see the torch relay will feel
some of the excitement the runners feel,
and I hope they will be even more
interested in the Olympics afterward.
(K.Y., 9th grade, male)
-- As a support runner, I'll do my
best to keep up with the pace of the
relay. And I'll try to run as a proud
student of Yamanouchi Middle School,
since the whole world will be watching. I
want to help make the Nagano Games a
success for everyone around the world.
(S.M., 8th grade, female)
-- To run with the Olympic
torch--what a great feeling! I get
excited just thinking about the Olympic
Flame coming to burn in Nagano. I'm very
happy about it. (T.O., 8th grade, male)
-- I want to get into top shape for
the day of the relay and run as well as I
can. Having the Olympics come to your
hometown is a rare, special thing, so
I'll do my best as a student of
Yamanouchi Middle School. (T.T., 8th
grade, female)
