How high are the ski
jump hills? Measured from the top
of the ramp, where the jumpers begin
their approach, to the braking track (the
area at the bottom of the slope where
they come to a stop), the normal and
large hills are 107 and 138 meters tall
(350 and 450 feet). The large hill is
close to the height of a 30-story
building.
How do some famous structures around
the world stack up against these hills?
The normal hill is a little higher than
the Statue of Liberty in New York (93
meters or 305 feet), and the large hill
is almost as tall as Egypt's Great
Pyramid at Giza (147 meters or 480 feet).
Imagine how it must feel to ski straight
down something that tall and soar out
into the air!
