Japan and the EU will co-host the Conference on Tajikistan-Afghanistan Border Management and Drug Control in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan on Tuesday, February 28 and Wednesday, 29.
Japan and the EU have been cooperating in strengthening border control in Afghanistan and its neighbouring countries. This conference will take place in Tajikistan whose location places importance on strengthened border control with Afghanistan. The conference will be held with the participation of government officials of Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and will focus on drug control as a main subject.
The conference will be held also as a follow-up of the last Japan-EU Summit held in May 2011. Japan and the EU as global partners will continue to tackle global challenges together.
