- On June 25 (Thu) and June 26 (Fri), Mr. Hirofumi Nakasone, Minister
for Foreign Affairs of Japan, will attend the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting
to be held in Paris and the G8 Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in
Trieste.
- The main theme of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting is “The Crisis
and Beyond: building a stronger, cleaner and fairer world economy.” There,
non-member countries as well will participate in discussions regarding the
OECD Strategic Orientations, The Road to Recovery, The Role of the OECD
in Global Policy Cooperation, Green Growth, Keeping Markets Open for Trade
and Investment, and other issues.
- At the G8 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Ministers are expected to discuss important diplomatic issues that the international community is facing; such as North Korea, disarmament and non-proliferation, piracy, Middle East, and Iran. G8 outreach meetings on the subject of Afghanistan and Pakistan will also be held with Ministers from Afghanistan, Pakistan and other concerned countries. Minister Nakasone is also scheduled to take this opportunity to hold bilateral discussions with various countries.
