- The 4th Japan-Sweden Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology
will be held on April 24 (Friday) in Tokyo (MOFA).
- The Committee meeting will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Seiji
Kojima, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, as chairperson,
and other officials from that Ministry, the Cabinet Office, the Ministry
of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and the Ministry
of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and on the Swedish side by Dr. Katarina
Bjelke, Director-General for Research Policy in Sweden’s Ministry of Education
and Research, as chairperson and other officials from the Swedish Research
Council, the Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), and other organizations.
- In this meeting, Japan will exchange information and ideas on the latest
science and technology policies with Sweden, a country world-renowned as
the awarder of Nobel Prizes and possessing the highest standards in science
and technology, which under its Research and Innovation Bill, has been dramatically
increasing investment and advancing institutional reforms on science
and technology. The two sides will also exchange information and ideas on
research cooperation activities in such areas as life sciences, the environment,
and nanotechnology.
- Members of the Swedish delegation attending this meeting will on April 25 (Saturday) visit relevant organizations to exchange ideas.
