The 25th Annual Conference of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group

- The 25th Annual Conference of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group will be
held in Odawara, from February 20 (Fri) to 22 (Sun).
- The Conference will be participated in on the Japanese side by about
20 persons including Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Member of the House of Representatives
(LDP) (as Chairman), and on the UK side by 20 persons including Lord Cunningham
of Felling, Member of the House of Lords.
- In this Conference, discussions will take place on themes such as (1)
Latest Developments in Japan and East Asia, (2)Latest Developments in the
UK and Europe, (3) the implications of the Election of a New US President
for Global Governance, (4) Dealing with the financial Crisis in the Changing
Global Economic Structure, and (5) Common Challenges of Energy and Environment.
- On the day before the Conference, February 19 (Thu), a reception will be hosted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. During the Conference period, the members of the Group will also pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Taro Aso.
