Visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs

- On October 11(Sun), Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of
Japan, has just arrived in Kabul, the capital of the Islamic Republic of
Afghanistan. Minister Okada will also visit Pakistan, from today to October
12(Mon).
- During his stay in Afghanistan, Minister Okada will pay a courtesy call on
Mr. Hamid Karzai, the President of Afghanistan, and meet with his counterpart
Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other high level
figures to encourage them to establish a stable government through after the
Presidential election.
- In Pakistan, Minister Okada will pay a courtesy call on Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan, on the first anniversary of his presidency, and meet with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. The purpose of this visit is to convey that Japan will continue to support the stable development of Pakistan which makes efforts to defeat extremism and to carry out economic reforms.
