The Second Japan-India Strategic Dialogue on Economic Issues

  1. On July 24 (Thu), the Second Japan-India Strategic Dialogue on Economic Issues will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
     
  2. This dialogue will be attended by Dr. D. Subba Rao, Finance Secretary of India, as the Chief Delegate of the Indian side, and by Mr. Masaharu Kohno, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, as the Chief Delegate of the Japanese side.  Also participating on the Japanese side will be officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of the Environment, and on the Indian side by officials from ministries concerned with economic affairs.
     
  3. The participants will discuss wide-ranging topics including Japan-India Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), ODA, infrastructure development, cooperation on the new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Science & Technology, Information and Communications Technology, urban development, and environmental issues and climate change. These topics are referred to in the Joint Statement signed by the leaders of the two countries last August.
