Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend ASEAN-related Ministers’ Meetings, and to Visit the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

1. Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Singapore and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam from July 22 (Tue) to 25 (Fri).
    
2. In Singapore, Mr. Koumura will attend the following meetings below and also have bilateral meetings with other foreign ministers who will also be present.

(1) At the ASEAN＋3 (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the participating foreign ministers will exchange views on the future of cooperation among the ASEAN+3 states and other related matters.

(2) At the East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Informal Consultations, the participating foreign ministers will discuss the future direction of cooperation among the EAS member states and relevant international issues.

(3) At the Japan-ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting, the participating foreign ministers will exchange views on Japan’s support for the integration of ASEAN, and ways to further deepen and expand the strategic partnership between Japan and ASEAN.

(4) At the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting, the participating foreign ministers will discuss political and security issues in the Asia Pacific region.

3. Mr. Koumura will co-chair the second meeting of the Japan-Viet Nam Cooperation Committee to be held in Hanoi, Viet Nam.  Mr. Koumura will also meet with key officials of Viet Nam.
