Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend the International Conference in Support of Afghanistan

1. Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit France from June 11 (Wed) to June 12 (Thu).
    
2. Mr. Koumura will attend the International Conference in support of Afghanistan (Paris Conference) held in Paris by the Government of France.
    
3. Participants in the conference will affirm the commitment of the international community to Afghanistan’s reconstruction and development based on the Afghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS), a five-year plan formulated by the Government of Afghanistan.  As the ANDS needs financial cooperation “Pledge”, the Government of Japan will announce in the conference new assistance measures for reconstruction, and present its intention to make further efforts to coordinate the assistance from the international community as the chair country of the G8 Summit Meeting.
