Dispatch of Mr. Hiroshi Okuda, Special Advisor to the Cabinet, to Gulf Countries as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister

  1. Mr. Hiroshi Okuda, Special Advisor to the Cabinet, will visit Gulf countries, namely Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar from May 16 (Fri) to 22 (Thu) as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister and will have talks with the dignitaries of the countries he visits.
     
  2. Japan endeavors to build a “multi-layered relationship with Gulf countries” through activating mutual visits of VIPs and promoting cooperation in the field of such energy resources such as petroleum and natural gas as well as in such fields as education and development of human resources.  Mr. Okuda’s dispatch is assigned by Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, aiming at further consolidating the relationships with the dignitaries of these Gulf countries in the context of such efforts as above.
