Visit to Japan by General Juniti Saito, Commander of the Air Force of the Federative Republic of Brazil

- General Saito, Commander of the Brazilian Air Force, who is the first
military Japanese descent in Brazil that became a military commander of
the country, will visit Japan from April 22 (Tue) to April 29 (Tue) at the
invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- During his stay, General Saito will meet with the high-level officials
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, and on April
24 (Thu), he will attend the “Japan-Brazil Exchange Year/100th Anniversary
of Japanese Emigration to Brazil” in Tokyo. Also scheduled are visit
to Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), attendance at the “Japan-Brazil
Exchange Year/100th Anniversary of Japanese Emigration to Brazil”, in Kobe,
Hyogo, visit to Hamamatsu city in Shizuoka prefecture. Hamamatsu is
the local autonomy that has the largest Brazilian population in Japan.
- General Saito is a second-generation Japanese-Brazilian, and is highly regarded in Nikkei society in Brazil. His upcoming visit is expected to further strengthen relations between Japan and Brazil.
