June 22, 2007

  1. The First Negotiations for the Japan-Czech Republic Social Security Agreement will be held from June 25 (Mon) to 29 (Fri) in Tokyo (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
  2. The negotiations will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Hideo Suzuki, Director of the European Policy Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Masaya Ojika, Director of the International Pension Division, Pension Bureau, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Social Insurance Agency; and on the Czech Republic side by Mr. Jiri Bauer, Head of  Coordination of Social Security Schemes Unit, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and the officials of the Government of the Czech Republic.
  3. From January 2008, employees sent from Japan to the Czech Republic will be obliged to affiliate to the social security system (including pension) of the Czech Republic, thus causing problems such as double contributions of social security premiums which would impose a huge economic burden on both individuals and corporations.
The conclusion of the Japan-Czech Republic Social Security Agreement is aimed at promoting human and economic exchanges between the two countries through solving such problems as reducing the burden imposing on individuals and corporations.
