Mr. Katsuhito Asano, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Visit Mongolia

1. Mr. Katsuhito Asano, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Mongolia from April 28 (Sat) to May 2 (Wed).
2. Mr. Asano will meet with key officials of the Government of Mongolia to discuss how both governments will actually implement the “Japan-Mongolia Basic Action Plan for the coming decade,” and other issues.
3. This year marks the 35th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Mongolia, and both governments regard this year as the “Year of Japan in Mongolia.” Mr. Asano will also participate in a photo exhibition and an event introducing Japan which will be held in Ulaanbaatar.
4. Furthermore, Mr. Asano will also observe examples of Japan’s economic cooperation and the Erdenet copper mine that has one of the largest reserves in the world, located to the northwest of Ulaanbaatar.
