The First Round of the Negotiation on the Trilateral Investment Agreement among the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea

1. The first round of the negotiation on the Trilateral Investment Agreement and the Seventh Consultation on the Improvement of Business Environment among the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea will take place in Tokyo, Japan on March 22 (Thu) and 23 (Fri).

2. The negotiation will be attended by Mr. Masashi Mizukami, Deputy Director General , Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Chief Negotiator of Japan) and Mr. Seiichi Nagatsuka, Deputy Director General for Trade Policy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and other officials from relevant ministries of Japan; and Mr. Sun Peng, Deputy Director-General, Department of Foreign Investment Administration, Ministry of Commerce (Chief Negotiator of China) and other relevant officials of China; and Mr. Won Sam Chan, Senior Coordinator for Bilateral Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Chief negotiator of Korea) and other relevant officials of Korea, will respectively participate.

3. This negotiation will take place as a result of the decision made at the Summit Meeting among the leaders of People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea held in Cebu, the Philippines on January 14, 2007.
