The Second Meeting of Nalanda Mentor Group

1. The Second Meeting of Nalanda Mentor Group will be held on December 15 (Sat) and 16 (Sun) in Tokyo.

2. At the Meeting, discussions will be held on an idea to restore the University of Nalanda (India), which used to prosper as a center of Buddhist studies, as a hub of exchanges for education and academic research in Asia.

3. The Meeting will be participated in by Mr. Amartya Sen, Professor of Harvard University (chairman of the Mentor Group), Mr. George Yeo, Foreign Minister of Singapore, master artist Ikuo Hirayama and others.

4. Also taking this opportunity, an unofficial exchange of views between the members of the Mentor Group and Foreign Minister Masahiko Koumura will be held on the 14th (Fri).
