Prof. Akiko Yamanaka, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Visit Brazil and Paraguay

- Professor. Akiko Yamanaka, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and Manaus) and Paraguay from September 2 (Sat) to September 10 (Sun).
- In Brazil, Prof. Yamanaka will attend the G77 Ministers' Meeting on Science Technology in Angra dos Reis (on the outskirts of Rio De Janeiro) on September 3 (Sun). Prof. Yamanaka will speak on Japan's science, technology, and international cooperation policies during the meeting. In Manaus, Prof. Yamanaka will exchange views on the development of Japan-Brazil economic relations with people involved in Japanese corporations that have located in the Manaus Free Zone, and exchange views with Japanese immigrants and descendants in connection with 2008, the Japan-Brazil Exchange Year.
- In Paraguay, Prof. Yamanaka will attend a ceremony celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Japanese Immigration to Paraguay as the representative of the Government of Japan on September 8 (Fri), and will talk with Japanese immigrants and descendants. Prof. Yamanaka will also hold talks with high level authorities and parliamentarians in Paraguay and exchange views on Japan-Paraguay relations.
