Fourth Meeting of the Joint Governmental Study for Strengthening Economic Relations between Japan and Switzerland

- The fourth meeting of the Joint Governmental Study for strengthening economic relations between Japan and Switzerland will be held on 21st and 22nd August 2006 in Bern.
- The meeting will be attended by representatives of the ministries concerned from Japan and Switzerland.
- At the meeting, there will be presentations and discussions on intellectual property rights, government procurement, competition, dispute settlement, improvement of business environment, trade in services, investment, etc.
- The launch of the Joint Governmental Study was agreed upon at the Summit Meeting between Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Samuel Schmid, then President of the Swiss Confederation, in April 2005. The first meeting was held on 31st October and 1st November 2005 in Tokyo, the second on 27th and 28th February 2006 in Bern and the third on 29th and 30th May in Tokyo.
