The Fifth Meeting of the Trilateral Consultations on the Possible Trilateral Legal Framework on Investment and on the Improvement of Business Environment Concerning Investment among Japan, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea

- The above Fifth Meeting of the Trilateral Consultations on the Possible Trilateral Legal Framework on Investment and on the Improvement of Business Environment Concerning Investment among Japan, the People's Republic of China (China), and the Republic of Korea (Korea) is held from April 11 (Tue) to 13 (Thu) in Seoul, Korea.
- This Meeting will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Satoru Satoh, Deputy Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Seiichi Nagatsuka, Deputy Director-General for Trade Policy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; on the Chinese side by Mr. Sun Peng, Deputy Director-General, Department of Foreign Investment Administration, Ministry of Commerce; on the Korean side by Mr. Hong Ji-in, Deputy Director-General, Bilateral Trade Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
- The Trilateral Consultations were established based on the "Action Strategy on Trilateral Cooperation among China, Japan and Korea", formulated at the summit meeting among Japan, China and Korea, held in Vientiane, Laos, in November 2004. The First Meeting was held in May last year (Beijing), the Second in August (Seoul), the Third in October (Tokyo) and the Fourth in November (Xiamen, China) to discuss the possible trilateral legal framework on investment and measures for improvement of the business environment for investors.
- At the Fifth Meeting, the Governments of the three countries will continue discussions on whether they could start the negotiations on the possible trilateral legal framework on investment following the discussions held at the Fourth Meeting in November last year. They will also discuss the measures that the three countries will each take for creation of favorable business environment.
