The Sixth Meeting of the Trilateral Consultations on the Possible Trilateral Investment Agreement and on the Improvement of Business Environment Concerning Investment between Japan, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea

  1. The Sixth Meeting of the Trilateral Consultations on the Possible Trilateral Investment Agreement and on the Improvement of the Business Environment Concerning Investment between Japan, the People's Republic of China (China), and the Republic of Korea (Korea) will be held from December 4 (Mon) to 5 (Tue) in Beijing, China.
  2. This meeting will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Masashi Mizukami, Deputy Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Seiichi Nagatsuka, Deputy Director-General for Trade Policy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; on the Chinese side by Mr. Sun Peng, Deputy Director-General, Department of Foreign Investment Administration, Ministry of Commerce; and on the Korean side by Mr. Hong Ji-in, Deputy Director-General, Bilateral Trade Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  3. The Trilateral Consultations were established based on the "Action Strategy on Trilateral Cooperation between China, Japan and Korea", formulated at the summit meeting of Japan, China and Korea, held in Vientiane, Laos, in November 2004. The First Meeting was held in May 2005 (Beijing), the Second in August (Seoul), the Third in October (Tokyo), the Fourth in November (Xiamen, China), and the Fifth in April 2006 (Seoul) to discuss the possible trilateral investment agreement and measures for improvement of the business environment for investors.
  4. At the Sixth Meeting, the Governments of the three countries will continue discussions on whether they can start negotiations on the possible trilateral investment agreement, following the discussions held at the Fifth Meeting in April 2006. They will also discuss the measures that the three countries will each take for the improvement of a business environment.
