The Fourth Japan-China Economic Partnership Consultation

- The Fourth Japan-China Economic Partnership Consultation will be held on December 2 (Fri) in Tokyo (Conference Room, Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
- The Consultation will be attended on the Japanese side by representatives of the ministries and agencies concerned, headed by Mr. Mitoji Yabunaka, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs; and on the Chinese side by officials from the bureaus concerned, led by Mr. Chen Jian, Assistant Minister of Commerce (of the People's Republic of China).
- The Consultation will discuss such issues as bilateral economic relations, cooperation in East Asia and a multilateral framework.
- Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Zhu Rongji, then Premier of State Council, agreed in April 2002 on establishing the Consultation to discuss, from a comprehensive standpoint, future goals of Japan-China economic relations focusing on trade and investment, try to identify economic problems in both countries at an early stage and prevent conflicts, and also further strengthen mutually complementary bilateral economic relations.
