Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Foreign Minister, to Visit Pakistan and India

- Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Pakistan and India from August 10 (Tue) to 14 (Sat).
- In Pakistan, Foreign Minister Kawaguchi will hold talks with Mr. Khurshid Mahmoud Kasuri, Foreign Minister of Pakistan, over wide-ranging matters including bilateral relations, counterterrorism, disarmament and non-proliferation, and regional issues. The Minister is also scheduled to exchange views with leaders of the Pakistani government on such issues as bilateral relations, and the international situation.
- In India, Foreign Minister Kawaguchi will hold talks with Mr. Natwar Singh, Foreign Minister of India, on specific measures for further strengthening the Japan-India Global Partnership. The Minister will also exchange views with leaders of the Indian government on bilateral relations, global issues, etc.
- This is Foreign Minister Kawaguchi's first official visit to Pakistan (excluding a stopover at Istanbul airport on her way to Afghanistan in May 2002), and her second visit to India (first visit: January 2003).
